The Doctor in Yellow offers readings in three-, five-, seven-, and ten-card (Celtic Cross) spreads. A simple rule of thumb is that more cards allows for deeper insight. Depending on the nature of your query, a lighter reading with fewer cards may be more beneficial than an in-depth reading with more cards, and vice versa. A spread with fewer cards is generally more appropriate for day-to-day concerns or moderately challenging circumstances. Alternatively, a spread with more cards is usually better equipped to clarify deeper challenges and significant life shifts.

A non-comprehensive list of appropriate topics for a reading with The Doctor in Yellow includes personal and spiritual development, love and relationships, career advice, shadow work, personal goals and ventures, family connections, and general advice. The only topics we will not perform a reading for are physical health, legal advice, and financial advice. In those instances, we encourage you to seek guidance from a licensed healthcare professional, attorney, or financial professional.

Yes, we can address yes/no questions. However, we generally find that the tarot is better suited for open-ended questions that allow for more depth and exploration. Therefore, it is not recommended that our services be used for yes/no questions. Alternatives such as the use of pendulums and divinatory coins might better suit a yes/no format.

The only requirement is that you be 18 years of age or older.

No. Generative AI (such as that found with products like ChatGPT and Gemini) is not involved in any aspect of our services. All readings and communications are 100% human-created. However, The Doctor in Yellow does use an AI-powered speech-to-text software to make video readings more accessible to deaf and hard-of-hearing populations. This software is only used to convert spoken words into plain text for individuals who are unable to listen to the audio provided with a video reading.

Not necessarily. Many tarot readers are psychics, and many others are not. Psychic tarot readers will often integrate mediumship into their practice, or focus more heavily on future outcomes. Both psychic and non-psychic readers are capable of supporting their clients with thoughtful consultation. The Doctor in Yellow does not claim to use psychic abilities with readings.
